The Department was created pursuant to the decision of Scientific Council dated September 1, 1995. S.A. Drobyshevskiy remains the Head of the Department since the day of its creation.

Conferences

The Department organizes annual student scientific conference, which usually attracts tens of participants. Professors and postgraduates of the Department are also involved in scientific events, arranged by other organizations.

The Department holds two scientific circles: problems of theory and history of law and state (scientific adviser – professor S.A. Drobyshevskiy) and history of Russian law and state (scientific adviser - associate professor G.N. Emzov)
